The 37-year-old has been prospecting for four years though it took two before he found anything. Lo-and-behold, after scouring the river bed, he found specks of the heavy metal raising his hopes of a serious find. It was a site listed in the British Geological Survey report as having signs of gold. In scenes reminiscent of the Wild West, Andy Brooke was panning a stream in the south of the city in January. And now he plans to go back to see if he can find the source of the precious metal which could be worth a fortune.
